Illinois Department of Natural Resources to hold Community Meeting to discuss its proposal for the Harley Clarke Mansion - Jan. 15

The City of Evanston has announced that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will host a community meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15 to make a presentation on its proposal for use of the Harley Clarke Mansion. The meeting will be held in the Parsol Room on the 4th floor of the Civic Center beginning at 7 p.m.

At the meeting, IDNR staff will discuss its operations and provide further details for future use of the Mansion. There will also be a Q and A session.

The City is now considering future uses and plans for the mansion, now occupied by the Evanston Arts Center, which has also expressed its interest in remaining in the mansion.

After earlier plans for development of the property failed to garner City Council support, in October IDNR expressed interest in a long term lease for the Mansion. The plan includes offices for the Department’s Coastal Management Program and will provide space for other official uses and programming.
