Sixth Ward resident Mark Tendam, who ran for alderman in 2005, has reportedly picked up from the City Clerk petitions for alderman, indicating that he will not be a candidate in the mayoral race toward which he had been leaning.

Mark Sloane, a resident of the 6th Ward, has announced he will be running for alderman. Mark has been a member of the Playground and Recreation Board for over six years. He has served as chair and recently began his second five year term as a member. Issues before the board during his tenure have included: the Lake Front Master Plan, the Crown Center rehabilitation and redevelopment of the Evanston Township High School field house. Mark is Chief Financial Officer at a Chicago area media marketing agency. He and his wife Judy live on Hartzell St.
I note that Trish Steiglitz was able to offer names of several people who may run for 7th Ward alderman in 2009.
I have been asking the same question with respect to the 6th Ward and have received no responses. Surely someone is considering running against Eb!
For planning purposes it would be extremely helpful to know who, if anyone, is considering running for 6th Ward alderman.
If you prefer to contact me off the CSNA board, please feel free to do so at barbrak1@aol.com.
Thanks.

The surprising entry of Stuart Opdycke into the Evanston mayor's race makes it almost certain Evanston will be going to the polls in late February. A mayoral primary is required unless there are only two candidates, and Plan Commission member Opdyche's announcement makes four, with possibly others waiting in the wings.
