Central Street Neighbors to host shredding event Saturday, May 28

If you have been using your time at home this winter to clear personal documents out of your basement, home office, corner of the bedroom, etc., but have been looking for a way to securely dispose of them, here is some good news!

On Saturday, May 28, from 9:00 AM to noon, Central Street Neighbors Association (CSNA) is again sponsoring a document shredding event for its neighbors in north Evanston. Help prevent identity theft by bringing your personal sensitive documents such as medical forms, bank statements, personal files, and old tax forms to be securely shredded on the spot, while you watch!

As with CSNA’s 2021 shredding event, a truck with shredding equipment will be located at the north end of the west parking lot at Northwestern University’s Ryan Field. Enter from Ashland Avenue using the furthest north entrance.  Volunteers will direct you to the truck and remove your papers while you remain in your car.

There is a limit of 2 banker boxes per auto, and only personal documents will be shredded (bills, bank statements, etc…). Magazines, newspapers or cardboard will not be accepted.  All binders and metal binder clips need to be removed, but staples and paper clips are OK.

Take the Lincoln Street Bridge Survey!

As all north Evanston residents know, the Central Street bridge over the canal is undergoing reconstruction. The Lincoln Street bridge is probably next. The Working Group for Better Bridges, convened by Seventh Ward resident Richard Miller, wants any new bridge to have a quality, “context-sensitive” design. Please take the Working Group's 3-minute survey about how you use the Lincoln Street bridge and your ideas about a new bridge. Survey results will be shared this week, Thurs. Apr. 28 at 7PM at the Evanston Ecology Center.
