A packed house picked through pottery and perused potential purchases at the Top of the Tracks Cafe's boutique during the Central Street Business Association's Apr. 14, 2011 Retail Therapy. The trackside portion of the event, organized by Mary Lou Smith, resulted in numerous donations for the Evanston Public Library Friends, who collected memberships, gave out yard signs and magnets, and sold all remaining pots from last fall's Pot Party

2800 Central exterior demolition

On April 13, 2011, a crew of volunteers for Habitat for Humanity was busy removing the old cedar siding from 2800 Central. The salvaged wood will be sold at their store in Waukegan to benefit the housing organization.

Goodbye to Flynn Guitars

Flynn Guitars at 2522 Green Bay Road (in the small strip mall anchored by FedEx Office), which over the last several years had changed its focus from instrument and amplifier sales to music instruction, closed after the 2010 holiday season.
