The office of Illinois's senior U.S. Senator, Dick Durbin, has announced that the senator has forwarded the names of two Evanston attorneys to the White House for consideration in filling vacancies on the local federal court for the Northern District of Illinois. Recommended are Sheldon Zenner, a partner with Katten Muchin Rosenbaum, and Edward Feldman, of Miller Shakman & Beem.
 
That two picks of five forwarded by the Illinois Senate delegation would come from Evanston might surprise some, but Evanston's population density of attorneys is exceeded perhaps only by its number of yoga instructors per square mile, and many of our barristers are both excellent legal minds and contribute much to the larger community. The public would be well-served by the appointments of Mr. Zenner and Mr. Feldman. Here's hoping that the partisanship of Washington does not get in the way.
