Quinn Picks Evanstonian for Chief of Staff

Governor Patrick Quinn has named children's advocate Jerome Stermer as his new chief of staff.  Jerry, president of Voices for Illinois Children for the past 22 years, is well-known to almost anyone in the not-for-profit world in Evanston, as he and his family are longtime residents of the Central Street neighborhood and involved in many good causes. I had the chance to chat with Jerry at some length in recent months at an open house for the Citizens' Lighthouse Community Land Trust, one of the many groups he's assisted.

Stermer not only is dedicated to improving the lot of Illinoisans, especially its most vulnerable citizens, but is tenacious, and knows his way around Springfield. He is the type of person we want to see in government, and his selection speaks well of the new governor.
